Key Job Responsibilities:
• Assist the Project Manager and Technology Architect preparing detailed requirements for projects based on high-level
requirements
• Get involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle from designing to coding, testing and supporting
releases, and implement work packages to specification, on time and to quality expectations.
• Provide work breakdown estimates based on the design and be committed to meeting delivery dates.
• Take ownership of a subset of project tasks.
• Attend and contribute to Peer Reviews
• Contribute to process improvement
• Re-factor the architecture of system components to improve the overall performance and enhance users’experience
of the next generation of smart phones
• Mentor other team members
• Be able to and actively provide prompt responses to customers’ enquiries.
Essential Requirements:
• Bachelor/Master Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Telecom related discipline.
• At least 5 years of software development experience
• Strong C++ experience in a commercial environment
• Experience of working on embedded systems.
• Solid Object Oriented Design experience, proficient in software design using UML
• Proven track record of leading other engineers in design and development
• Experience in software engineering project life cycles and processes
• Very good verbal and written English skills
• Team player, delivery focused, self starter & good communication skills to wide set of audience types and forum
(engineers, engineering managers, customers, senior management), influencing and negotiating skills/experience.
Preferred:
• Symbian OS experience
• Excellent understanding of Embedded Systems
• Mobile phone OS development
• Experience within telecommunications industry standards relating to communication protocols.
• Proven knowledge of existing and emerging mobile phone technologies
• Work experience in a related international environment
• Direct knowledge of Device Management or Client Provisioning standards
• Knowledge of the OMA and their standards
• Knowledge of proprietary solutions for Device Management and/ or Client Provisioning
ABOUT TEAM
The Device Provisioning Technology Stream is responsible for the primary technologies (OMA Device Management and Client Provisioning) used to remotely manage mobile devices. These standardised technologies are in the early stages of industry adoption throughout the main markets used by Symbian devices. There is a need for ongoing development, optimization, enhancement, and extension of the set of Device Provisioning APIs and supporting architecture to meet the growing demands of network operators and handset manufactures. Your role will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the Symbian OS.
